Working with Pasifika Peoples Course Outline

MANAWISE GROUP’s “Working with Pasifika Peoples” online course contains 6 weekly modules with at least 5 insightful sub-topics for each ranging from history, data, pronunciation and Pasifika models/frameworks.

Week 1: Introduction to Culture

An introductory overview of Pasifika Peoples histories, migration paths and worldviews.

Week 2: Pasifika History

This section provides an introduction to the histories, traditions and migration paths of Pasifika peoples.

Week 3: Pasifika in Australia

This section gives an overview of Pasifika in Australia including categorisation, data, main policy considerations, and policy impacts.

Week 4: An Introduction to Pasifika Cultures

In this section you will be introduced to some Pasifika models as well as given an overview of Pasifika culture and values.

Week 5: Personal Perspectives

This section unpacks how our personal perspectives and experiences can impact how we are positioned on the cultural competence scale using reflections from your cultural bag.

In this section you will learn ways to increase your effectiveness in engaging Pasifika peoples, families and communities.
