The CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support is the latest nationally accredited qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
Completion of this course may also lead to the following roles including:

This qualification is delivered through a blended learning model, combining scheduled face-to-face workshops with structured online learning and trainer led virtual sessions. Face-to-face classes are held at designated training locations and scheduled at regular intervals throughout the course, while online sessions are delivered via live virtual classes and supported self-paced study. Session days, times and locations are provided prior to enrolment, allowing learners to confirm the training schedule suits their availability.
The 881 nominal study hours include all learning activities, such as face-to-face workshops, online classes, independent study, assessments and vocational placement requirements. Learners are expected to actively participate in scheduled sessions, complete required selfstudy and assessments, and manage their time effectively to meet course requirements.
Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed in within a 52 weeks (including holidays).
Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend 1,228 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills, and experience.
This course is designed to develop your expertise in providing person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Among others, you will learn to:
- Provide individualised support
- Facilitate the empowerment of people receiving support
- Support independence and wellbeing
- Recognise healthy body systems
- Communicate and work in health or community services
All learners will be assessed through:
- Observation during role play/simulation
- Questioning may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview
- Structured Activities may include Projects, Case studies, presentations, role play, demonstration, progressive tasks
This qualification has no official entry requirements. However, to be successful in the course MANAWISE Education require the following:
- Are 18 years of age and over
- Have basic computer skills
- Have sound Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (equivalent where suitability will be determined utilising MANAWISE Education’s LLN&D Assessment Tool)’

- Legislative and statutory instruments related to reporting
- Information on local resources, programs, agencies, transport services, aids and equipment available to people with disability
- Opportunities for engagement with people receiving support services according to an individualised plan or people who participate in simulations and scenarios that involve provision of support services according to an individualised plan
- Opportunities for engagement with people living with dementia and their family, carer or others identified by the person and others involved in service provision
- Participate in simulations and scenarios that involve provision of disability support in a range of contexts
- Provision of palliative or end-of-life care in a range of contexts.
To complete your course, you will need ongoing access to the following:

Mandatory Vocational Placement
Learners are required to undertake a minimum of 120 hours of vocational placement within a registered and approved service provider. This must occur after the student has satisfactorily completed all the other units/subjects in this qualification.
During this time, the learners are required to complete a skills workbook.
Learners have the option to:
- Source their own vocational placement providers (MANAWISE Education to check suitability)
- MANAWISE Education will continuously look for and form partnerships with service providers in Queensland and other states in the future but cannot guarantee a placement.
- MANAWISE Education will provide learners a vocational placement pack that outlines all the requirements for finding a suitable vocational placement provider that will facilitate the required workplace assessments and allow the learner to complete the required vocational placement hours.
- Learners are recommended to initiate contact with potential vocational placement providers as soon as enrolment is confirmed to allow sufficient time for MANAWISE Education to confirm the workplace’s safety and suitability.
Vocational placement providers must allow access to:
Vocational workplace supervisor(s) to supervise and confirm completion of the required tasks in the Skills Workbook. The workplace supervisor must:
- Have adequate knowledge and understanding of ageing and disability care
- Have the ability to effectively supervise and manage ageing and disability care services
- Have the necessary experience and qualification/s in the area of individual support specialising in ageing and disability (e.g., they have the relevant VET qualification/s, Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability) or higher)
- Use of suitable facilities, equipment and resources that reflect real working conditions and model industry operation conditions and contingencies, including:
- Current legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- National standards and guidelines for infection prevention and control and hand hygiene
- Relevant Commonwealth state or territory legislation and industry frameworks
- Organisation policies, procedures and protocols. Including but not limited to:

Remaining balance to be paid within 30 days of enrolment
- If a learner withdraws before course starts, the first instalment is not refunded
- If a learner withdraws after course commencement, instalments already invoiced are not refunded
- If travel or visa arrangements fail after the course has commenced, no refund applies for amounts already paid or invoiced under the learner agreement
- If MANAWISE Education cancels the course, unused fees will be refunded in accordance with the learner agreement and applicable law –
- If a learner defaults on payment, access may be suspended after the due date in accordance with MANAWISE Education procedures and the learner agreement
